Application Support Technician

Updata have a Technical Support Role available with our team based in London. The successful candidate will gain invaluable support and financial services experience from day 1. As part of the Support Team, you will be working with highly motivated individuals on mission critical projects at the centre of Updata operations. This is a 1st and 2nd line support role and will involve all aspects of problem solving related to Updata’s application software products., dealing with Updata’s customers by telephone and email. The Help Desk works closely with the Sales Team to provide information about product capabilities. They are also involved with training users and circulation of information about the product and related markets. In-house training on the product will be provided and there may also be the opportunity to become qualified in the financial analysis that the company specialises in.

Updata delivers cutting edge Technical Analytics software combined with an ever expanding set of data compatibility. As a Junior Data Integration Developer, you will be part of expanding and supporting feeds compatibility.

Tasks

Provide application support, advice and guidance by telephone, email and on site to all Updata product users, MDS and IT departments

Investigate complex problem situations, diagnose underlying causes and find solutions

Test Beta versions of software before official releases

Ensure requests from all users are handled promptly and with professionalism

Ability to document software/troubleshooting guides/user guides

Go "on-site" for software rollout and/or troubleshooting (May also include EU travel)

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Very good command of English is essential, both verbal and written - a good coherent telephone manner is essential

Experience in daily problem solving for customers over the telephone

Ability to provide quality support by email

The ability to work under pressure to solve problems quickly

Experience working in an I.T. Support environment, ideally corporate financial services

Excellent Support based problem solving skills - must be demonstrated at interview stage

An ability to manage own work schedule and work in a logical and methodical manner

Most of all a strong commitment to excellent customer service

Explored the Updata website extensively and ideally trialled the Updata software

Desirable Technical Experience

Graduate, minimum requirement is a degree in Economics, IT or a Science based subject

Extensive knowledge of Windows based Operating Systems - particularly on configuration side as well as general use

Experience with Networks, Firewalls and Citrix would be considered a bonus

Some form of programming knowledge not essential, but considered a bonus

Experience working in corporate environments, particularly financial

Familiarity with Financial software, i.e. Reuters, Bloomberg, etc would be an advantage
