Perhaps the most far-reaching change in
Trader Professional II is a completely new
application, Updata Community. This is like
a live ‘chat room’ and instant messaging
service where you can exchange ideas with
fellow investors. This is not like the
discussion boards you may be used to on the
Internet, but a live environment where you
can see others typing ideas on screen as you
watch. There are many subject areas and
you can break away for a private one on
one discussion.

Updata Messenger lets you see when your
friends have logged in, if you are already on
line too. And you can build your own
‘friends list’ to keep track of the handful of
people you regularly communicate with. For
the first time ever, investors can exchange
ideas live from within their software. For
example, when you have drawn some
analysis on a chart, you can send this to
other people within the community. This
means you can get a clear impression of
what other investors are talking about.
This ability to send windows live over the
Internet adds an extra dimension to
mastering Trader Pro, especially with the
Updata Helpdesk itself. During the Trader
Professional II Beta Programme, we found it
invaluable for helping show people how
new concepts worked which, in turn,
enabled us to make the whole environment
more intuitive.
