Relative Overlay

The Relative Overlay function is explained best with an example as shown in the diagram. The chart shows the ABF price history with overlays of the FTSE-100 index rebased (the market) and ABF relative to the FTSE-100. The Relative overlay shows ABF's true performance against the market. (i.e. at times ABF is rising, but the relative is falling showing ABF shares are not rising as fast as the market. There are also points where the market is falling and the relative is rising showing ABF's resilience.

Analytics draws the relative price line by dividing each point along the original price line by each point of the overlay price line and then multiplying this by the first point of the overlay price line throughout.

To Overlay a Relative price file:

• Follow exactly the same process as an Absolute overlay but when the Overlay dialog box is presented change the Overlay Type to Relative
  
  
• Click on the Select Date button if changes are to be made to the Min and Max date
  
  
• Click on <OK>.
