Updata Technical Analysis

Updata's Latest Internet Technology

Updata's Latest Internet Technology
Traditionally these systems have been delivered on CD because of the huge volume of data that comes with the system. Now we have constructed a unique system that progressively builds the database from the internet while you use your system. After a period of use your database will be full of data, making fewer requests for data online. This technology means that you can request any fully cleaned data history at any time. Simply right hand click on your chart and Download Full History. It takes seconds. This also removes the onus from you to us to keep your history database up to date. Once you have downloaded your Updata system, the internet is only used for data delivery making it many times faster than using browser based systems

Updata Datafeed powered by Standard & Poor’s
Up to 20 times faster, better quality and reliability as well as more data Updata has built a new datafeed technology utilising Standard & Poor’s Comstock XpressFeed. This is delivered via the internet using Internet Protocol (IP) technology, Updata compression techniques and client server technology, meaning that you will instantly notice data streams into your system at a much higher data rate than you are used to. Broadcast systems on standard UK terrestrial data feeds are typically delivered at data rates of between 3 and 12kBits/sec while a standard internet connection allows data rates of up to 56kBits/sec and broadband many times that at up to 2Mbits/sec. The traditional broadcast systems of the 90’s have been superseded by this new technology.

3rd party Datafeed Compatibility
If you are already running you’re your own data feed and don’t want to switch, no problem. Updata systems are already compatible with a host of data services. We are confident you will not find a better service than ours, but if you want to stay with your current feed provider it is likely Updata is compatible. See our website or link in via Windows Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE).

Want to run both systems together
For the ultimate investment suite you can run both systems together combined in one for a seamless experience or as separate applications. They both use the same data engine and you can add the other system at any time. Why not start with your preferred choice in the knowledge that you can just add the other system when you want.

Quick Guide to "always on" Internet connection
Many people have worried about the telephone call costs that rack up while using the internet. Now there are a number of services that allow you to have unlimited use of the internet with a low fixed rate monthly fee. Broadband is lightning fast but is not available in all parts of the country. This typically costs under £30 per month. A number of providers also offer a normal dial up service on a Freephone number allowing you to stay connected all day for free and this is normally less than £15 per month. Visit www.updata.co.uk/internetservicesfor a list of providers.
